    Great boots with one issue

First, I really love the boots. The dark brown calfskin looks great and is pretty stiff and sturdy so I suspect these will just keep getting better as I wear them. I also like the contrast with the bright brass eyelets and I love the feel of the crepe sole. 9.5D on the Barrie fits me very well so all in all, a great pair of boots. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is those pretty brass eyelets. Several of them, like 5 or 6, have really jagged edges that tear up the laces. They’re difficult to remove so not so easy to replace but sanding the insides of the eyelets with fine sandpaper helped a fair amount. Still not perfect but good enough. Never had that problem on any other pair of Aldens before.
