In order for Stonefly shoes to revolutionize the concept of city footwear, it was necessary to establish an unprecedented research project, drawing inspiration from the sporting footwear sector. Principles of anatomy and physiology of the foot, collaboration with designers of international fame, as well as the use of new materials and of avant-garde technologies were the underlying parameters for all Comfort Lab projects, in accomplishing increasingly "fitting" models in line with consumer needs. 5% of Stonefly's annual turnover is invested in research and development.

Designed at the Stonefly R&D department, BluSoft comes from an idea to create a project that can: a) reduce the risk of microtrauma harmful for the skeleton and muscular system; b) limit fatigue through the release of energy after the compression phase, c) improve the gait by reducing the weight and increasing the flexibility of the outsole. Ongoing refinement of the application of the gel capsule to the bottom of the shoe has allowed Stonefly to design and implement a variety of solutions that adapt very well to an extensive range of footwear.
